As the fiscal year closed on June 30, we wanted to give an update on our many grant payments that were provided to members across Oregon. The grants supported law enforcement, corrections, wildfire mitigation, recreational immunity, cyber security, and risk management best practices.

Recreational Immunity

The temporary suspension of Recreational Immunity in Oregon raised concerns about legal risks for members regarding park and trail visitors. In response, CIS provided guidance and offered up to $5,000 in grant funds for trail improvements, signage, and more.

For this fiscal year we will be offering grants very similar to what we did last year.

CIS’ Director of Risk Management Mark Jennings anticipates additional grant offerings during the year, which will be based on emerging risks or trends (similar to how recreational immunity gained prominence last year).

Grants for fiscal year 2024/25 include: Security Cameras, Wildfire Mitigation, Drone Training, Cyber Loss Control, Corrections, Body Cameras, Property and Evidence, Mental Health, Critical Incidents and Lexipol for Police and Fire.
