Staying True to Our Mission
We entered 2021 hopefully. However, tremendous risks remained as the global pandemic continued, liabilities grew, and wildfires returned. We adapted our thinking and approach as the needs of Oregon’s cities and counties changed.
Accomplishments grew from collaboration between employees, partners and members — proving that we are stronger together.
SAIF became a new partner, and 250 cities and counties joined the new CIS Servicing Group at SAIF. Together, CIS and SAIF saved premium dollars and enhanced workers’ compensation risk management services.
Our data analytics, risk management and underwriting teams worked together to assess wildfire risks and offer practical solutions. The results impressed the international carriers who back our $600 million of property coverage.
Our member cities and counties implemented best practices and shared innovative safety solutions. CIS recognized member excellence with a redesigned award program and promoted innovation with grant funds.
Despite the challenges, CIS strengthened its financial position and kept rates stable. Together, we helped Oregon’s cities and counties to be safer, stronger, and healthier.
